Hi, I'm Marcelo Vianna
I’m a Level Designer passionate about building thoughtful, engaging spaces that players get lost in. From immersive sims to tactical FPS titles and narrative-rich RPGs, my work is shaped by a love for genre-defining experiences and a focus on player flow, discovery, and pacing.
Over the past few years, I’ve contributed to a range of commercial and indie projects, currently designing levels at Hermit Crab Studio. There, I’ve worked on Surrealisbon, Hide and Seek: Rio Heights, and the sports-focused Soccer Tycoon 2, including a collaboration with Grêmio Football Club. In parallel, I’ve led projects with my indie team Nebula, including the roguelite Nightshift Survival (Steam), the mobile puzzler Lesimo, and a stack of game jam entries and prototypes.

What grounds and drives my work is continuous learning. I completed the CGMA Level Design course, where I focused on blockout, iteration, and encounter pacing. More recently, I was selected for the Unreal Fellowship: Games 2025 (American Cohort)—an intensive program mentored by Epic Games that sharpened my skills in Unreal Engine 5, with an emphasis on gameplay systems, rapid prototyping, and cinematic integration.
I’ve built levels using Unreal Engine, Unity, and The Sandbox, across a variety of scopes and teams. My toolbox includes visual scripting, 3D blockout, gameplay iteration, and a strong understanding of how to shape progression and moment-to-moment action.
When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me painting miniatures, running tabletop RPGs, or breaking down the level structure of whatever immersive sim I’m currently obsessed with.
Now based in Burnaby, BC!
I’m excited to connect with others who love crafting unforgettable play spaces as much as I do.
