This week’s assignment was to create an open-world-inspired level with a gliding, crouching platformer character, set in a fantastical environment designed for exploration. My personal goals included building the world on a larger scale than the character to emphasize their smallness within the space and aiming for a more cartoonish style, all while trying to make a truly enjoyable platformer.
I’m pleased with the level but feel it could become awesdome with some additional time and iteration. I’m actually considering revisiting, polishing it further, and eventually posting it on Itch.io.

For this level, I drew a lot from classic 3D platformers like A Hat in Time, Mario Sunshine, and Spyro. In addition, I studied Zelda: Skyward Sword’s Skyloft and Venetian architecture to create a more organic, interconnected layout.
